At the heart of Vortex is our lead instructor, Andy Griffiths, a dedicated and passionate martial artist with over 10 years of experience across multiple styles including Taekwondo, Kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu. Andy's journey in martial arts began at a young age, fueling a lifelong commitment to both personal mastery and teaching others. He is not only a skilled practitioner but also an inspiring mentor, known for his patient, engaging teaching style that makes martial arts accessible to students of all ages and skill levels. Andy emphasizes not just the physical aspects of martial arts, but also the mental and emotional growth that comes with disciplined training. Under his guidance, students learn to develop respect, perseverance, and confidence, shaping them into well-rounded individuals. Andy's dedication to martial arts and his students has made Vortex a nurturing and dynamic place to learn and grow.

Credentials and Achievements:

  • 3rd Degree Black Belt in Freestyle Taekwondo.

  • Competition history includes multiple national and international medals and belts across multiple disciplines including Taekwondo, Kickboxing and Muay Thai.

  • Qualified Sport Scientist and Dietitian.

  • UK Strength and Conditioning Association accredited member - the gold standard of strength and conditioning coaching worldwide.

  • Holds an enhanced DBS check as well as Level 3 Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding qualifications.

  • Currently working with multiple professional combat sports athletes across promotions such as the UFC and more.
